She was a gift to a friend who had cancer. We all were so worried. This woman was scared, who wouldn't be?
I would. I had been hospitalized twice with very threatening buggers, one a bacterial infection, the other a deadly virus.
It was sometimes rough. Cancer is, even when cured. But she wanted this dog....
A puppy. She named her Mocha.
There was already a puppy of her boyfriend's at the time named Ralph. Ralph was a yellow lab, beautiful dog, so gentle. Mocha, was a chocolate lab. Haha...Full of puppy.
My friend got through her recovery, and doing great. It was at times a lot at that time to deal with...Puppy training.
If you have never experienced it, then you do not know. But for me, it was worth being there.
Her dog, yes she grew...Resisted training...Big time.
But I got to be around. Sometimes with both her and Ralph. Once Mocha stole a steak off the counter in the kitchen....
She hung out with other labs from my friend's job as she worked for a service dog organization. Oh, that was fun...Yeah it was. Maybe the best time of my life. Haha, tore up my sandals, speaker grills...I would not give up those memories for anything, I miss Regal. He and Mocha were a real pair. They would come and live in the house until ready for training.
Got to take Mocha on walks. Oh, some people would cross another street than see us. Others, with their dogs, loved her.Yes, she got big, had a big bark. But it just hello...and some knew that. I would be so happy, to see her just sniff around another dog...She never bit anyone. Ever.
One person took offense of her sniffing his flowers....on one of ouir walks around the neighborhood. She never harmed anyone. Lived with two cats. Yes, she barked, but never ever harmed anyone.
Yeah, I admit there were times I sneaked her food. She would sit in front of me and drool...lol.
But, I will always remember the walks we had. I let her take me everywhere. And I so enjoyed it.
There were times she slept with me. Even under the covers.
Those are memories I will take with me forever.
She wasn't my dog.
But I am grateful I had that chance to know her.
Thank you, to Mocha and my friend. In spite of trouble I sometimes caused.
Mocha now has cancer.
Not many days left.
My suggestion is...
Give to the Humane Society....For those animals that were not given a life Mocha had. they need it so bad.
